Yamaha XSR 155: Retro Design Meets Modern Engineering
Yamaha Motor India has officially highlighted its XSR 155, a motorcycle that combines retro-inspired styling with the performance of a modern 155cc liquid-cooled engine. The bike reflects the brand’s “Retro Sport” philosophy — a blend of heritage aesthetics and advanced Japanese engineering.
Old Soul, New Machine
The design of the XSR 155 draws inspiration from Yamaha’s classic lineup, following the Japanese concept on–ko–chi–shin, which means “study the old to better learn the new.”
It retains a minimalist frame, round LED headlamp, and a sculpted fuel tank, balancing nostalgia with practicality.
Yamaha has also introduced custom kits — a Café Racer and a Scrambler — allowing riders to personalize the motorcycle’s character.
Performance and Engine
Powering the XSR 155 is a 155cc liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 4-valve engine producing 18.4PS at 10,000 rpm and 14.2Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm.
The engine features Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) for better mid-range response and an Assist & Slipper Clutch for smoother downshifts.
The bike also includes Traction Control, Fuel Injection (FI), and an electric starter, offering performance and safety in one package.
Ride Dynamics and Handling
Built on Yamaha’s proven Deltabox frame, the XSR 155 focuses on agile handling and stability.
Suspension duties are handled by telescopic front forks and a monoshock rear setup.
Disc brakes on both ends and ABS ensure controlled braking.
The upright riding position makes it suitable for both city commutes and long-distance rides — a mix few retro bikes manage well.
Design & Comfort
True to its retro identity, the XSR 155 uses circular digital instrumentation and vintage-inspired seats.
It comes equipped with Yamaha’s Y-Connect App, allowing riders to access data such as fuel consumption, maintenance reminders, and engine performance analytics directly on their smartphones.
Price & Availability
The Yamaha XSR 155 is priced at ₹1.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Available in Metallic Grey and White Metallic C, it is also E20 fuel compatible, making it future-ready for blended petrol standards.
Yamaha’s dealerships are offering a range of accessories including a seat cowl bracket kit (₹2,470), meter screen guard (₹200), and tank pad (₹220).
